ITB and Supermap Establish Strategic Partnership in Geospatial Technology Development

The Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) is ready to establish a strategic partnership with SuperMap, a leading provider of Geographic Information System (GIS) technology and solutions, to advance the development of geospatial information systems technology in Indonesia. The symbolic signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two parties took place in a small ceremony on the ITB campus on Friday, June 13, 2025. This collaboration aims to demonstrate a shared commitment to developing education, research, and innovation in geospatial technology. This moment also marks an important first step in building a sustainable collaboration between ITB and SuperMap. As a token of initial support, SuperMap plans to hand over several of its software licenses, including SuperMap iDesktop, iServer, and iPortal, directly to ITB through the Spatial Data Infrastructure Center during the event. This licensing is expected to enrich ITB’s research and teaching facilities and capabilities in the geospatial field. SuperMap is a China-based company recognized globally as a leader in GIS and Geospatial Intelligence (Geo-AI) technology. They focus on software development and the provision of integrated geospatial solutions encompassing Big Geo-Data GIS, Remote Sensing, 3D GIS, Geospatial AI, Distributed GIS, and Cross-Platform GIS. These solutions have been widely implemented in various sectors, from government and transportation to urban planning, the environment, agriculture, and other industries. This collaboration between ITB and SuperMap is expected to open new opportunities for developing geospatial technology expertise and applications in Indonesia, as well as generating innovations that benefit the wider community. The event was attended by several prominent figures from ITB, including Prof. Dr. Albertus Deliar, S.T., M.T., Dr. Budhy Soeksmantono, S.T., M.T., and Dr. Ir. Agung Budi Harto, M.Sc., who fully supported this collaborative initiative. In Harmonia Progressio! ***
