The Engineering Geology Laboratory was formerly named the Technical and Environmental Geology Laboratory, which was a merger of the Technical Geology Lab, Environmental Geology Lab, and Geohydrology Lab. The laboratory serves the above fields of study and conducts testing on the engineering characteristics of soil, rock, and water.
Head/Laboratory Manager: Dr. Eng. Imam Achmad Sadisun, S.T., M.T.
Decree Number: 107/IT1.C01/SK-KP/2025 dated June 5, 2025
Functions:
- Education: Providing engineering knowledge in the fields of technical geology, environmental geology, and hydrogeology through testing using test equipment, both in the laboratory and directly in the field.
- Research: Conducting tests on samples taken from the field as well as direct field testing in the areas of technical geology, environment, and hydrogeology.
- Community service: Providing technical services in the fields of technical geology, environment, and hydrogeology for community issues such as foundation problems, ground movement, groundwater, water and soil contamination, and other technical and environmental geology problems.
Courses served in the last 1 (one) semester:
The Engineering Geology Laboratory supports various courses that cover a comprehensive spectrum of geological knowledge, ranging from computational fundamentals (GL-2101 Geological Computation) and understanding of fluids in geological structures (GL2181 Geofluids) to technical courses such as Introduction to Rock Engineering (GL4021) and Environmental Geology (GL-4022). The learning program continues with specific studies in General Hydrogeology (GL-3081) and practical applications of Construction Materials Geology (GL4043).
At an advanced level, the laboratory supports specialization in Soil Geology (GL5021), Advanced Engineering Geology (GL5024), and Groundwater Geology (AT5103). Planning and mitigation courses are also a focus through Geoplanology (GL5023) and Geological Natural Disaster Mitigation (GL5002), as well as analysis of specific geological phenomena such as Landslide Geology (GL5022) and Rock Engineering Geology (GL5025). The curriculum concludes with Selected Topics in Geology 2 (GL7002) which presents contemporary topics in the field of geology.
