Unpatti-UI and ITB Cultural and Ethnographic Studies of Ambon Economic Mapping

Ambon (ANTARA) - Pattimura University (Unpatti) Ambon Maluku collaborates with the University of Indonesia (UI) and the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) in a cultural and ethnographic study of mapping spatial, cultural and economic dynamics in Ambon City.
"We, the Sociology Laboratory, FISIP Unpatti) together with the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FIB UI), and the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Technology, Bandung Institute of Technology (FITB ITB), collaborate in the form of a research seminar," said Head of the Sociology Study Program, FISIP Unpatti, Dr. Prapti Murwani in Ambon, Monday.
He explained that this activity aims to deepen the understanding of ethnographic and geospatial research methods, including the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data in socio-cultural studies that have an impact on the economy.
Selain itu, lokakarya ini juga bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan peserta dalam memanfaatkan data geospasial untuk pemetaan sosial budaya di ruang publik.
Kegiatan yang digelar selama dua hari tersebut menghadirkan berbagai akademisi dan praktisi di bidang sosial, budaya, dan geodesi.
Agenda kegiatan mencakup seminar penelitian sosial-budaya dan lokakarya penelitian etnografi. Pada kesempatan itu juga disampaikan materi terkait metode pengambilan data dengan strategi etnografi sekaligus pengumpulan dan interpretasi data.
“Sebagai implementasinya, Kota Ambon merupakan rumah bagi berbagai etnis dan budaya, seperti etnis Ambon, etnis Jawa, dan etnis Tionghoa. Masing-masing etnis memiliki budaya dan tradisi yang unik, seperti upacara adat dan festival budaya. Budaya dan identitas etnis di Kota Ambon juga mempengaruhi pola konsumsi, produksi, dan distribusi barang dan jasa,” katanya.
This also has an impact on the economy in Ambon City itself, which also plays a role in influencing the dynamics of space and culture.
The trade and service sectors are the main drivers of the economy in Ambon City, with traditional markets and modern shopping centers as examples. In addition, the economy in Ambon City also influences migration patterns, urbanization, and social change.
"Therefore, mapping the dynamics of space, culture, and economy in Ambon City is a complex and interesting study. By understanding the dynamics of space, culture, and economy in Ambon City, we can improve our understanding of how people in Ambon City use and interpret public space, and how culture and ethnic identity influence the dynamics of space and economy," he said.
Through this seminar and practical workshop, it is hoped that participants will gain insight into related fields and the opportunity to apply the knowledge gained in the practical sessions of ethnographic research and geospatial mapping.
